What Causes Pollution?
Because of the increase in the pollution over the past few years, the earth’s ecosystem has undergone severe damage. There are many causes to pollution that go hand in hand with the various types of pollution. Humans are a big threat to the health of the environment and cause much of the pollution due to the various activities that have created waste products, which have been released into the environment. Luckily, there has been much more awareness on the issue in recent years on various reduction measures, yet there is still a very much of a problem. Some of the most common causes of pollution include the burning of fuel, overuse of fertilizers and pesticides, carelessness and the improper disposal of waste.
By burning fuels, tiny black particles are released into the atmosphere, which are known as black carbon. Black carbon is a major component of soot and a big contributor to global warming. As the world population continues to grow, there is more need to for power plants and mining. These needs take a toll on lands and communities and create most of the carbon dioxide that puts further threat to global climate.

The over use of fertilizers and pesticides contribute greatly to the amount of pollution in the environment. Many farmers and U.S. agricultural policies can lead to practices that damage the environment. Such practices include the overuse of fertilizers and pesticides that adds to the runoff that pollutes rivers, lakes, and oceans.

Carelessness and the improper disposal of waste have led to most of the recently discovered environmental problems recently. Many times when people are not careful to properly dispose of their waste and toxic substances, the results can be detrimental to the health of animals. Many humans are very carless with their litter and pollution that animals can easily swallow or get tangled in many of the litter items. Humans tend to create pollution by littering items such as loose fishing lines, plastic bags, aluminum foil and cans, fast food wrappers, glass and metal. These items can harm many animals so it is important for humans to avoid littering or pick up any trash that others have left in the environment.
